Initially, its simples form was that of Wooden Malkhamb fixed in the ground. Later it was in many versions like Cane Malkhamb, Hanging Malkhamd, Rope Malkhamb. It is played by the young, middle aged and even by the old persons in India. The game has reached even in foreign lands. No doubt, the game is most spectacular and presentable and making the present generation physically and mentally strong. The first national competition of the game was held in 1958, a long with National Gymnastic Competition in Pahadgang Stadium, New Delhi, On 29th January, 1981, Malkhamb Federation of India was founded And it has started holding National Competitions. One more organization Namely, Maharashtra Amateurs' Federation of Malkhamb is founded and It also Contributing a lot in the spread and development of the game. Both Organizations are rendering yeaman's service to the sport.
